Welcome...

The West Central District of the Northern Florida Section includes the counties of Citrus, Hernando, Marion, and Sumter.

The purpose of this website is to provide up to date information to Internet users, particularly ARRL members in the West Central District of the Northern Florida Section, on activities of radio amateurs and the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), including the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES®) in the state of Florida.

West Central District Emergency Repeater

The W4RAC repeater, 146.955 MHz (-) tone 103.5 HZ, will be used as the District Emergency Repeater during a declared event.  A NCS will be assigned to coordinate and handle information and traffic into and out of the West Central District.  If this repeater is down, the DEC will declare which working repeater will be used as the District Emergency Repeater.

The WCD has a “District Net” that is held on the first Tuesday of each month starting at 7:00PM local time. We will use the Citrus County Amateur Radio Club’s repeater, W4CRA, on a frequency of 146.955MHz, tone 103.5.

This net is basically for, but not restricted to, the EC’s and AEC’s of our four counties. Each county can give a short synopsis of activities, upgrades, concerns and support of any problems. It is encouraged that all ARES members listen to the net so they may know better what is happening in our District.

The District Net will be hosted by each county on a preset rotating basis. For the year 2013 the Net Control County will be as follows:

Citrus host – Jan. 1st; May 7th; Sep. 3rd

Marion host – Feb. 5th; Jun. 4th; Oct. 1st

Sumter host – Mar. 5th; Jul. 2nd; Nov. 5th

Hernando host – Apr. 2nd; Aug. 6th; Dec. 3rd
